Default rotor clean up or replacement

Hey guys i have an 08 gt and I love the car. Everything looks perfect and i just painted the calipers. Is it possible to clean up the rotors so they look brand new and keep them that way. Or do I need to buy stainless ones? How much would this cost?

Thanks
Kevin

Meh. Stock rotors are going to rust and become discolored just about everytime it rains. Best bet is change them out. I just had to redo my entire brake system (four cracked rotors that the dealership couldn't find although it was obvious...) I went went Powerstop Drilled/Slotted Rotors from Stage3Motorsports.com So far so good. Excellent look, excellent quality, and pared with the Hawk HPS pads, excellent braking!

If they need replaced, replace them. Otherwise, it's easy to paint the rotor hat black with high temp engine paint. Scuff the rust off with a wire brush and tape off the pad surface. I have done that with several cars and it works great.

Stainless rotors are an option but I have no idea how well they compare to non-stainless rotors. I know a guy that bought some for his truck about 5 years ago and they were about twice the cost of other aftermarket and OE rotors but I have no idea how they held up.

Are you showing the car or is it OCD kickin' in?

Just cruising in it. But I love working on it and trying to make it perfect. I think painting them would look funny with my setup. Ill get a pic up when I get home. I think my wheels are the polished bulliti wheels
