How much would it cost me to upgrade my 3.31 to a 3.73 rear axle?

What's the difference when changing to higher gears. I have 3.31 in my current stang, I had 3.55 in my 07 stang. I know gears increase the rpms but by how much when considering 3.73 gears or 4.10?
Thanks

For the OP, most expensive quote here in Oklahoma was about 500 for installation only. (absolute RIP OFF) the average was about 180-250 for labor. Not bad at all. More important to get it done right than to get it done cheap though. Just keep in mind that just because some charge more, doesn't mean they know what they are doing. Best thing to do is to talk to them and see how they answer questions. Some will try to cop out in advance if you ask for example, "will my gears have any whine to them" by saying "all aftermarket/racing gears whine a little" or something. Avoid these kinds of places. I have heard, and my experience has been, that any gears you put in should be as silent as stock. Mine has FRPP 4.10's and they sound no different than the stock 3.55's did, and they were dead silent.

I paid $366.06 for install, gears and lube. Got a cheap price; cash with no receipt. I went from 3:31 to 3:73 not really a huge difference to be honest. I plan to get a blower soon, that's why I went that route.

If you could do it over would you? I too am thinking of going from 3:31 to 3:73, but if it is not that big of a change maybe I will stay with what it has.

Yes. 1st does run out faster and traction sucks. 2nd and 3rd gear pulls are better. Don't get me wrong, it made a difference. Just not a hugh one.
