IMO Oil is a cheap insurance policy for the longevity of the engine. I would change it every 5,000 if I were you. I know that engines are more refined then ever and so are the oils, but its not that expensive to change the oil and have peace of mind that you are not going too long without an oil change.

 

Just a friendly reminder. If you change your own oil, save the receipt and write the mileage on it. Keep it with you records.

 

I change the oil in a new car within a week or so (approx 100-200 miles) and every 600 or so miles there after.

 

Every 600 miles? Like . . . forever? I hope not . . .

 

He has like more coats of wax on his car than he does miles xD that's why the number of oil changes by mileage is ridiculous.
