The key loop on my remote broke so I made this...
To answer the next question, I am 85% sure there's enough room in there to create a remote-key.
Snapped back together easily once the notches were cut. Planning to JB-Weld the ring to the back, though it is pretty cool that the split ring actually turns right now.. it's a little off-center because I freehanded it at 2AM, plenty of room to be on-center.
Sorry the rubber looks so nasty, it's not nearly that bad in real life.

If I can ever find the time, I'd like to create something very similar to that, in polished hardwood. That said, I'm toying with the idea of just picking up an AdvancedKeys RFID keyless system and hacking their remote & the trunk/alarm buttons into a single fob... just waiting to hear back from them on whether it's compatible with the Mustang's "smart unlock" feature.
