I believe the OP is referring to bracket racing, where the goal is not to go as fast as you can, but rather to match the time you said you would get before the race started. Whoever gets closest to their stated time wins.

If you realize you're going to be too fast, you brake towards the end to slow down, but this lets your opponent know that you aren't where you want to be.

If you have your brake light on for the entire run, your opponent won't know whether you're accelerating or braking. Consider it poker-facing on the drag strip.

Looks like you want the LiteGreen wire from
Connector 2314 on the brake light switch.

Or the LiteGreen wire on Connector 2280H
on the SmartJunctionBox in the pass side kick
panel. The brake switch location will be the easiest.
Wire that to a FUSED 12V supply with a switch
and go to town. You can use the LiteGreen/Red
wire on Connector 2314 on the brake light switch
for the FUSED 12V.

Seems pretty simple to me.
Find the brake light switch with two wires
and place a switch in parallel with it....

But be aware that the PCM also monitors this
brake light request as well as the SJB.
Why, who knows but Ford. Maybe to turn
off the cruise control or stop the AUTO tranny
from freewheeling and switch it to drag mode
during braking...

Best bet would be to PULL the brake light switch
connector during the run down the track??

why not pull the fuse for the brakelights when you get to the track? Seems like that would be easier.

Bracket racing itself is a bit strange . . . being first across the finish line does not necessarily mean that you won.

Indeed, Bracket racing is the only time on a drag strip where a 17 second car can beat an 8 second car!

157DB, if you install a diode between the splice and the SJB (electrically speaking) with the anode pointing toward the SJB, the SJB won't see the brake lights being activated from the add-in switch.

Seems and is are two different things.
The fuse for the brake lights also powers
other items as well.
Pulling the brake light switch connector
would be simpler and more effective.
