opinion on CAI and exhaust combo
#11
I went with a FRPP Bullitt style CAI and the SF3 from American Muscle. After looking long and hard at the different CAI's I came to the conclusion I preferred the look and fit of the FRPP over the rest. I gave up a handful of RWHP (4-6) compared to the rest (AM's own testing) but it was a worthwhile trade IMO.

My setup FRPP CAI (Bullitt), Custom dyno tune from RPMM in San Diego, American thunder Flowmaster axel backs.
I don’t understand all the hate for the Flowmaster, mine definitely made a difference in sound, while they are not that loud they did give my car a nice rumble and that’s exactly what I wanted.
The Pype violators are a bit louder but I just don’t like that exhaust note, sounds a bit ricey to me.
The Borla stingers and Pype bombs are freaking sweet man but just too loud for me, one thing you need to remember is that with the borla or pype you are going to get a lot of droning at highway speeds and that just drives me nuts so they weren’t a good fit for me.
I have exactly no drowning with my American Thunders, just my opinions here.
The exhaust is really just the sound and how loud you want I honestly fill you can’t make a bad choice anything is better than stock, as far as the CAI there really is only one
choice I would make and that’s the FRPP CAI(Bullitt) nothing comes close to the look and fit you get with that.

Flowmaster American Thunder CLASSIC (the squared off ones) sound good on S197's.
I'm running MAC flowpath mufflers, and they sound sweet.
Honestly, the stock mufflers sound pretty good with an offroad or aftermarket catted midpipe.
You will want to match up a midpipe and muffler combo, because the midpipe you choose can alter the volume and sound a lot.
