18x9 deep dish wheels, any sacrifice in drivability?
#11
My thought was that with the deep dish that has more offset it may effect the good steering manners for a long trip driver, good to know people who have used these wheel specs & have good feedback, thanks for all the replies.

Yeah, you should be fine. My steering felt much more responsive and "alive" in sharp corners when I switched to 18x9 up front. Tire selection is key for no tracking, though. I will third that the KDW 2's find every single groove. (definitely worth it though) Try the Nitto NT555's.. they shouldn't have tracking issues.

Your setup is dailed in, do it!
First summer with the 18x9's myself, and with the Nitto 555 you will love. A good all around tire for the summer and 255/45/18 is a great filiment.
Got mine at AM and have been very happy with them.

Going from a 7" wide rim with 39mm of offset to a
9" wide rim with 36mm of offset will put the extra
2 inches of rim plus 3mm's outside of the mounting
surface. This will make a difference because of the
added weight out farther on the spindles.
I would go with a 50mm + offset on a 9" rim and 275/40-18s.
I have 18x8.5s with 50mm of OEM offset and 275/40-18s
on them. No squirles here. Just firm straight driving and turning stickyness.
Run em at 38 PSI with straight accross tire wear until they are just plain gone.
The 39mm offset will make them tires run outside of the fenders
and the bottoms of the doors and rocker panels will see
severe rock damage if you go with TreadWear 100 sticky tires.
GET YOUR TOE SETTINGS CHECKED
I had 255/45-18 KDWIIs and a simple toe adjustment fixed the
squirlys on that set of tires. They wore out true accross the face.
Most people with 'squirly' tires dont have the toe properly set
or excessive bump steer from improperly lowering the front end
with 'lowering' springs instead of the proper way with lowered spindles.

That looks awesome! Great choice on the color combo!

These look the same as what I ordered, but I don't think they were a 30mm offset. I'm wanting to say my fronts were a 34mm off, my backs are 18x10 with a 45mm off and are currently for sale on AM's website as well. Might ask Chris over at AM and see if they have changed offsets since I ordered mine last spring. Hope this helps.

They are different. The wheels pictured above in the thread are the old style we used to carry that have rounded-lips and rounded-spokes. We no longer carry that style. If you zoom-in/look closely at the wheels we currently have on our website, they have squared-lips and spokes that have a high-point on them, as opposed to being rounded like our old ones.
The offsets haven't changed, they have always been +30mm. It's only the spokes/lips that are different and are what's causing the change in look.
I apologize for any inconvenience, but I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions in the future! Have a great weekend!
