Default Keeping the engine cool?

Just a few quick questions about keeping the motor cool. What does everyone have their fans set at? JDM has mine set to come on at 200* but I feel this is way to high and when I had my bama tunes it came on much lower. I called Jim at JDM and he said the reason they do this is because if the fan comes on at a lower temp, the thermostat doesnt open that soon and it causes the motor to run warmer. Is this true?

Also what mixture does everyone run in their radiators/intercoolers? I was told a 50/50 mixture is best, so I mixed 1.gal of distilled water, and 1.gal of prestone antifreeze in a 5.gal bucket. Is this good, or should I use a little more water than anti freeze to keep everything cooler?

UnleashedBeast's view on the mixture portion of your question here(Heat/Heatsoak issues; see last sentence). Full thread here.

IMO.... 50/50 mix is best. I have new Fluidyne 3 row Rad with 180 stat and My fan is set to come on at 195 degrees.

I use 50/50 with water wetter and my car never really sees over 210, usually in the 190s though.
