I am planning to get a radar detector. If you have one, what's your personnal experience with it?

I have the Escort Passport 9500ix, and ive had it for 2yrs with zero tickets. Only problem is its price. The range is great, I was on the highway yesterday and it went off saying Ka band so I slowed down. I looked everywhere and couldn't see him. It wasnt till i got more or less than a mile down till I saw him on the side in a chevy suv lol. My other favorite thing about is it gets rid of false alarms. Takes going by it for 3 days but after that it determines its fake.

Thanks for asking this, I have been looking into a Valentine One but I guess I've got 12 pages of reading to do first!

A lot of good info here: http://www.guysoflidar.com/index.html

Check out the test reviews, too.

I've been running a Bel STI Driver along with some passive laser suppression. You can't go wrong with the Valentine, Bel or Escort.

I have a Escort Passport and honestly don't really use it. I live in upstate NY and cops don't sit with there radars on all the time, its better for more city areas. Just remember its a radar detector, not a cop detector.

Escort Passport 8500 for the past two years here. 0 tickets. I've had at least four occurrences where this thing saved my ***. 2 of those times the Escort picked up the Ka band from almost 1.25 miles away. Paid 300 and worth every penny. Escort, Valentine, and Bel make quality products. Just remember: you get hit with a laser, and that cop has you dead to rights.

This is the badest mf'er I have ever used!!!!!
Beltronic's 955/995 user until I got this unit, and they were great for highway use...but in the city the escort rulz after it has learned and stored the fake signals.

With or without a detector, you're a fool to run distance without a rabbit.
