Default Black Out Panel Issue

Well.. I recently bought a Black Out Panel from AM. It looks great but is starting to come off already after just a day of it being on. When I put it on I slightly messed up and placed one side a little bit higher than the other and now that side is coming off completely.. If I take this thing off, how would I go about re-installing it? It's held on with just two strips of 3M tape. Should I take the tape off and put new strips on all for sides? And how can I do that without messing up the panel and trunk? Or can I just heat it up, take it off and reapply it by heating it up again?

Hair dryers and Goo-gone are your friends. And patience.

Alright, thanks.

Now that takes care of taking it off.. But what about to re-install it?

And where can I get the Goo-Gone?

I'd say just use new tape. You can get 3M automotive grade tape from many different auto stores.

You can get Goo-Gone from Wal-Mart in the Hardware section.
Since it has just been on a little while loosen it with the Goo-GonIe and it will come off easy.
Clean the surface VERY well.
Make sure all the Goo-Gone is completely gone.
Alcohol should work for cleaning it off.
I would use more than 2 strips of 3M, get plenty at Wal-Mart and tape at least all of the edges.

Prep is the most important thing you can do. If you don't prep well it won't stick.
I had to learn the hard way, when my louvers wouldn't stick right.
Good luck.

I actually added a bunch a 3m tape before I installed my panel and now a year later its starting to peel back a little. Oh well, a little more tape.

You must clean the surface area really good with some alcohol (don't pour it on lol), then heat up the 3M tape and apply adhesive promoter onto the surface area of your trunk. Also, press firmly and evenly, moving through out the panel. Remember to "test fit" it first, or you'll mess up again! You don't have to, but I let mine sit over night just to make sure it cures completely. You can also go over the sides with a heat gun, but obviously don't burn the damn thing!

^ Lol. Thank you. I'll make sure not to burn it.

I will stop buy Walmart today and pick up everything. I'll clean it all off and re-install it on the weekend.. Stupid weather is annoying me right now. Lol.

Thank you everyone! you guys ALWAYS help me out!

OH!.. It was a little wavy in some spots, I guess from shipping.. How can I get it to flatten out a little bit more? Just heat it up?
