Cam Install Opinions

Cam Install Opinions
I bought Long Tubes and Detroit Rocker cams from Brenspeed this past Friday. I'm having the exhaust done at a local shop. I'm really on the fence about the cams though and am looking for opinions. To do it myself will run ~$120 after tool rental. Plus I've never attempted any sort of engine work before. CMCV's and suspension are as complicated as I've gotten. I can get it done local for $350. The downside to that is obviously spending even more money. Just not sure what to do. Spend the money or risk it myself ? Thoughts?

I'd have it installed.
Many DIY'ers will say otherwise but I'm one who would not want
to put my car at risk even though it is not a HUGE engine work task.
It's big enough so that you don't want to screw it up.
If you do it yourself I would DEFINITELY have someone there looking over your
shoulder who has much more experience than you.

$350 is a good price to get em done.
Could I install cams? Yes. Did I install mine? No. lol I wanted to know they were 100% perfect after being done so I had Brenspeed install mine.
Bear in mind, I assume you got a good tune to go with it?

I did my FRPP cams myself and it was a pretty easy install. One of the main reasons I DIY'd it was because everyone I called around here wanted $700.00 for the install. For $350.00 I let them do it.
Make sure to ask them if they've done it before. I had one place here tell me it would be between $700.00 and $1000.00. I asked him why the spread and he tells me, "I've never worked on a 3V engine before so if I screw something up I'll have to re-time the engine." I said, "thanks but no thanks."

Well it looks like this question has answered itself. A good friend of mine volunteered to help me out this weekend and he lives in the same subdivision. Kind of a no-brainer. He's a very experienced weekend mechanic. He's a chevy guy but I'll forgive him this one time.
Car goes to the shop on Thursday for headers. Stay tuned next week for videos!
