How many of the happy owners do you think feel compelled to add their input to the report? Not many. They are too busy out-driving the competition to be concerned with some consumer report.

I do however see your point AND Ford does need to fix things such as the transmission issues NOW. Tremec anyone?

Sure Ford finally got a handle on these items after almost 4 years, but you would have thought this would have been solved after 2 years of production.
Doesn't your vehicle only have something like 700 miles or something? You've experienced all of those problems with your vehicle not being a daily driver and garaged during winters with only ~700 miles?

I must be very lucky with my '06 daily driven 55k beast (knock on wood lol)

No issues at all with my Pony. I've just been on this forum for the last 4+ years. When we took delivery of her in January 2007, I had a blue shop paper towel in my back pocket. Told my salesman to wait a second while I checked the carpet at the passenger kick panel for any signs of dampness.

Put the crossmember brace that was designed for the GT500 and convertible models on at 83 miles to help prevent the dreaded Thunk. That brace and nuts was $234.46 at the time. Ford started installing the crossmember brace on all models 03/27/2007.

If you ask me, it's rediculus that someone would have to be concerned about these 2 issues that had existed for 3 model years.

I see all these reports and then when I need something, I head over to my local Ford's service department and I have nothing but good things to say.

The only issue I've ever had is when they didn't call me to let me know a part came in because the guy that I placed the order with was sick.

Ummmm...no thanks! I'd prefer to be able to shift into second or third when it's cold outside...and I also find it convenient to be able to shift into reverse without multiple attempts....oh, and I'd like to be able to not loose races due to missed or difficult shifts.

All of the above. There are so many Tremec Mustangs with the problem there's a term for it..."cold clash". I took it to the dealership twice...same old problem (couldn't reproduce, normal operation, etc). I tried all the fixes I could think of (synthetic ATF, shifter) and the MGW shifter helped with going into third accurately but did nothing for the cold shifting. Ultimately, I wanted a Grabber Blue Mustang and was just sick of driving my car with the Tremec; getting in the car every morning after work was a miserable experience. I dreaded my daily commute with the 2008 and the 2010 offered me a carefree driving experience.

In all fairness the overall quality of my Mustangs I've owned throughout the years (90 GT, 95 Cobra, 08 GT, 10 GT) is WAY better than my experience with other manufacturers. Aside from the transmission in the 08 I haven't had any major issues; that's why I was willing to buy another Mustang and get the 2010. In other words, Fords are pretty decent cars and you'll probably never need major warranty repairs...be warned though, if you do they will do everything in their power to deny service or void your warranty.

The competion among car mfg. is so stiff that if you snooze, you lose, it's really that simple. However, among German imports, Audi has gained lots of ground at Bimmer and Merc expense even though Audi is among the worst in reliability. Go figure.

Because top tier car buying is a game of image, not reliability. Most top tier car manufacturers have more failures per vehicle than joe shmoe brands all day every day. It's sad that it is the way it is, but there's not much to do about it.

Classic case of business cycle imo with ford right now. They have been up for the past 6 or 7 years and now it's time for a down. Too many new generation car's coming out at one time = to many CONSUMER related problems.
The magazine is CONSUMER reports...why the suprize?
Don't worry about ford boy's, I think they just reported about 1.6 billion in net profits for the quarter. Down alittle over the last year....but we talking 1,600,000,000
alot of zero's...right
Once they get the bug's worked out, they will be aright...the trick to car buying is nowing the bug's are there before you buy!
and for the record, my 08 fusion was built in Mexico not America

Hey Menace,

If you are still having issues, PM me your VIN and I'll see what I can do. No guarantees, but I'll try.

I'm thrilled you decided to go with the Mustang.
