Shifting issues

I don't know Dallas' zip code off hand, so here you go:
http://www.redlineoil.com/dealers.aspx
The fluid that technically goes in our trans is the D4 ATF. People also run the MTF.
Also, if there's not a dealer near you (which I kind of doubt), another fluid I had fantastic results with was GM or Penzoil Synchromesh. In fact, I think it might've been slightly better feeling than the Redline, but I can't justify dumping out $40 worth of fluid to go back. It'll be what goes in for the next change. You can usually find the synchromesh at your local Autozone, Pepboys, what have you.
Also, no, these transmissions aren't meant to be smooth, at least from my experience.

I need to change my transmission fluid on my 06 V6. I don't think I need the most expensive stuff. What would you suggest? Mine is an auto and doesn't seem to have any issues. I bought the car at 55K and now has a little over 70K. I have no idea when the last transmission fluid change occurred.
I need to change the oil too so I thought I would do it together.
I have changed oil in cars before, but are their any best practices for trans. fluid changing as this will be my first time?
