The hp gains were from American Muscles' site, if you go to the Headers link and read the info it says 42RWHP with the mid-pipe. But the mid-pipe is almost $500 for what looks like just the small pipe. (Not sure if the prochamber actually comes with it or not.)

I thought an X pipe would be cheaper and produce the same numbers so I was gonna go with that if I could do without the mid-pipe and/or the prochamber.
If worst came to it, you could buy a half acre in the neighboring county, stick a mailbox on it, and say you live there haha

no LT's and midpipe will get 42 rwhp without boost.
NA it will be more like 15-20, with bolt ons.
less by themselves, a little more if you got cams.
but dont let an advertisement tell you what the hp gains are. always check with real world people to see what gains they have actually made.

if you want the ***** best, get Kooks or ARH.
they are all stainless steel, and well made, and will last the longest.
Mac makes good headers that reasonably priced. BBK makes similar quality headers.
I have BBK myself, and they are great for the price. but Kooks or ARH are better quality.

Thanks onederful100. That was really helpful. I'm not going for Forced induction. All NA for me. Eventually I will get cams and a throttle body and intake manifold and all that. I'm trying to build it as much as I can without going forged internals and all that fun stuff.

Young_Gun unfortunately that won't be happening for a while. Lol. Being 20, full time in college and a part time job I'm not buying property any time soon.

mac makes good exhaust parts.
i have their h pipe and catback on my 2000 GT, and they have lasted for years without a problem.
didn't want to sound like i was saying that they make sub-par stuff, bc they make great parts.

Yeah don't worry about that. I just wanted more insight on the power ratings mainly because 42RWHP sounded way too good to be true.

I'm wanting to get as much power I can out of her without going to a turbo or supercharger and really don't know much about the performance gains on everything. My target goal would be around 400hp but I've noticed a lot of people saying it was really hard with being NA.. any insight on that?..

with all the bolt ons and cams, i've seen others with hp claims of anywhere from 320-350 rwhp.
with heads a little more.
the most i've ever seen was with a stroker block, forged internals, a little more compression, cams, heads, intake and all the bolt ons.
that car made about 390 rwhp.
with the stock block and internals, all the bolt ons, cams and heads, i would guess you could get in the 350-360 rwhp ballpark.
with a stroker and a higher compression ratio, you could get closer to your 400 rwhp goal.
but all that engine work is expensive.
If i was to stay NA and relatively cheap, i would do all the bolt ons and cams and leave it at that.
the heads, intake, and stroker kit is costly. and not worth the extra money IMO, not enough hp return on your $$$ investment.
but thats my .02

Exactly. Much more cost effective in the long run to just go FI with that power goal.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3035476/2007-ford-mustang

this is the 07 GT i was talking about.
it actually has a lower CR, and the intake is stock.
it makes 385 rwhp. and was featured on horsepower tv, the links are on the cardomain page.
i guess you can make pretty good power with bolt ons and cams.
