Default MAC Long Tube Headers

I've been mocking up a list of parts I will be saving up for in the future and saw the MAC Long Tube Headers at AM and saw that they produce a lot of power for headers and then noticed that there is an additional item needed, of course.. How much would this Mid-Pipe really help with the power? I know it replaces the Cats but would that mean I could still pass emissions with them on or no?

Headers.

Mid-Pipe.

**Edit: There are a few things I would like to ask also now that I am getting closer to buying these headers without starting another thread.

1. How is the clearance over speed bumps even after being lowered about 1 inch from those that have experience with them? (Some of the speed bumps around my house are the really tall and wide ones so I'm a little worried I'll scrub)

2. If I get the longtubes I'm assuming I can't reuse the stock cats, so if I go with a catted mid-pipe would I still pass emissions and would that also cause a decrease in clearance?

With the long tubes you need the mid-pipe because the stock mid-pipe won't fit. Without cats I doubt if you'll pass any emissions test.

Could I have a mid-pipe made to fit it for cheaper?

Are all long tubes going to require a mid-pipe?

All longtubes require a "shorty" midpipe, so yes. Whether another brand can fit the Macs without modification, I don't know. The whole prochamber thing always put off any cheapness the headers might've had in my opinion.

And I don't believe you'll see much of a difference in power between a prochamber, x, or h pipe. Most of the power comes from longtubes in general, not even MAC in specific.

Then what makes them put out 42 RWHP compared to the appeared average 17-20?

I was thinking the MAC Headers and an X Pipe with my MAC Axlebacks but I still need a shorty mid-pipe then, correct?

Sorry for how stupid I may sound, I'm just trying to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

If I were you I'd take the risk on the emissions BS

I checked at my county doesn't even do it, and my friends in county's that do don't get tested ever.

I'm one of three counties in IL that have emissions testing every 2 years, at least to my knowledge. Kind of sucks.

OP, I'm not denying that MAC headers may net a higher gain in RWHP. But I will say that while I don't know if you got that from someone's actual results or manufacturer claims, If it's the latter, all I can say is never believe them. Maybe someone else can chime in with the difference in power made.

Yes, you do still need a shorty mid pipe. I'm not sure if there's an x pipe that is a direct bolt on or not. BTW, seems as though you're going for one of my favorite sounding exhaust combos

My county is strict on them, I can't get my tag unless I pass emissions next year. The county that is right next to mine doesn't require it. It sucks, I live right on the line too...

You know, if you're that close, I bet you could take it up with the county councils and get your address moved into the neighboring county.

I live in between 2 cities, and whereas I'm in the more Southern school district, my address is listed as the more Northern city.

Haha. Yay.

Yeah I love the sound. Without the cats and with the Prochamber it sounds like a freaking BEAST!

The hp gains were from American Muscles' site, if you go to the Headers link and read the info it says 42RWHP with the mid-pipe. But the mid-pipe is almost $500 for what looks like just the small pipe. (Not sure if the prochamber actually comes with it or not.)

I thought an X pipe would be cheaper and produce the same numbers so I was gonna go with that if I could do without the mid-pipe and/or the prochamber.
