Default Faux cap peeling?

Pisses me off...the car was shown at the Houston Autorama a few weeks ago and we didn't notice this when we pulled in because a black car reflected off of it and blended it. Here is a picture of what is happening below. All ford does is paint over the chrome on this cap? Probably is what costed us first place because the judges inspect em' with a fine tooth comb. We feel ashamed driving the car now as this takes away from the looks of the car.

I understand being disappointed with it peeling so soon compared to the life of the car, but to be ashamed of your car over it? That seems kind of dramatic. Go in and talk to Ford, if not that just get another yourself, have a custom one made even

Never said I was ashamed of the car, it just takes away from the looks of the car in my opinion. Its not like I won't drive it just because of that. If I did get a custom painted one I have no clue what I would get done.

Unfortunately crap happens, all you can do now is replace it or get it painted again.

Don't get another cheap Ford one. Check the aftermarket or look into having a custom company cut you one from scratch.

With your paint color I would dump the faux cap and get a nice blackout panel for the back end.

since you'll be replacing it...how about chipping all the flat black away and see how the "all chrome" gas cap looks...might look good...you'll be the only one sporting it...please take a pic if you do...
