You dont need the battery for the removal and painting but you wont be able to relieve the fuel pressure from the fuel rails.

just wear safety glasses when unhooking the lines. the fuel may spray and it hurts when it gets in your eyes

as for the windows. if its safe to do so, just leave the windows cracked open a little bit before you unhook the battery.
Dont slam the doors closed when the window is ALL the way up, you can damage the window regulator.

as for colours, id keep it simple, just stick to one, maybe two colours and i would do blue to match the stripes. But thats my opinion, do what ever pleases your eye!!!

be sure to post pics when you get around to this! if you have any more questions, dont hesitate!

Found this for ya
Disconnect the factory fuel line safety clip from factory fuel line. Remove the factory fuel line using a fuel line removal tool.

youll need the fuel line disconnect tool. propably pick one up at a parts store. make sure to ask them which one and specify, Ford

Remove fuel rail from intake manifold by removing the (4) 6mm mounting bolts (8mm socket) and pulling rail up and away.

I'd be a bit hesitant to sandblast the parts. They'll all bare metal, so not a whole lot of reason to hit them anyways. Would hate to have sand end up in any of the crevices. Could lead to plugged injectors, scratched cylinder walls, etc.

For what it's worth, I cleaned up my valve covers with grease/wax remover and then shot them with some hi-temp red.

You pose a good point. I should be able to use compressed air and blow them off real good
