Default Interior Light issues on 2012

Hello All, i just picked up my 2012 V6 about two weeks ago. Yesterday morning i was driving with the headlights on because it was cloudy/rainy. Everything was fine then suddenly the dash lights lit up like the headlights were off and the backlights for the stereo and heat control went out. I pulled over and turned the car off and on a few times, no changes. I went to work, the car was off for a good 6hrs or so, left work turned the head lights back on and all was fine again. I thought it was fluke, but i got up this morning, again it was kinda rainy so i turned the headlights on, and again i ran into the issue where the dash didn't dim and the backlights didn't come on. Anyone have any suggestions or run into this issue before? I can bring it to the dealer, its under warranty obviously, but if there is a quick fix i can do i would definitely prefer it, would save a lot of time.
Thanks!

Just because headlights are on doesn't mean the dash lights are on. The light sensor on the dash controls it. if it is bright enough outside the dash lights will stay off even with headlights on.

Also, I believe the headlights come on automatically with the wipers......or at least they do on my GT/CS. They do not turn on the dash lights when the wipers are operating and the headlights are set on auto unless it is also dark out.... Lots of combos on a simple headlight function.

Im pretty sure my 10 GT with HID's acts the same as yours, i use the auto feature just because its easy and theres been times where i've noticed my headlights shining on the car infront of me but my dash gauges aren't on in the morning. I think the sensor on the dash senses that light is not needed inside the cabin

Thanks for the info, it ended up being the sensor on the dash.... I didn't know there was one :-)

If it's daylight out the interior lights will remain lit as if it's daylight out even if you turn on the exterior lights. They will only revert to "Night light" if the light sensors indicate it is dark enough out to turn on the auto lamps.

Possibly what happened is that it was dark and rainy enough for your autolamps to light and then it cleared a little or got lighter out so the autosensor turned off.

At least that's how Mine has been working....
