I guess I have a different opinion on this (not to say its the right one!) but I went through the same decision process and was looking at either a used 2007 GT500 or a loaded 2011 GT. I ended up going with the 2011 for a couple of reasons.

1. I was trading a loaded 07 GT in on whatever I chose, and didn't like the fact that the GT500 had no more options or amenities other than the engine than the GT did.

2. I was trading the 07 GT in because the warranty was about up and I couldn't justify trading it in on another car that was just out of warranty.

3. I really like the fit and finish of the 2011 +, and LOVE synch and the other options that are available.

It's a touch decision, you just have to decide what's more important. I hope to trade my 2011 in next year for a used 2010 or 2011 GT500 so that I can have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the responses guys! It sounds like a 2007 wouldn't be a bad way to go but I should look closely at the niceities of the newer GT's to be sure.

On the 2007 GT500 I heard something about a gas guzzler tax. Is it true?

Gaz guzzler tax on almost any V8, but that should only be on new vehicle purchases I thought.

I would go with the GT500, yes a newer car has nicer options etc. But in 10, 20, 30 years, that GT500 will be much more sought after than a basic GT. Plus I just love the looks of the GT500.

What is the car going to be used for? If it was me, and I had to buy a daily driver I would go witht the newer GT. If it was going to be a fun car, weekends, shows, etc, then the GT500.

Either way I have seen 2008 and 2009's on autotrader for less. Make sure and shop around, unless this one has all the things you want. Good luck, I wish I had your dilemma!

Very tough decision... be best to test drive both but not sure how easy it is to test drive a brand new 5.0

I'd get the GT500 because even though its already out of warranty, its has very low miles. If it had like 30k i'd definitely get the new car. But the problem with buying a brand new GT is that you can't have much fun modifying it until a few years later, unless you want to void the warranty of course.

You'd have to still put a blower on that 2012 GT in order to have the power of the GT500

I was going to ask the same question. I would definitely get the GT500. It will be more valuable down the road.
I did see a GT500 Super Snake on eBay last night for around that same price. That's an even more rarer car.

$34k for an '07 GT500??? WAY too much, IMO. I was on a delaership lot in early '09 and was looking at 3 GT500's (I believe 2 '07's and an '08) for $32k for the highest of the 3.

For $34k you can get a used 5.0 AND have an SC thrown on...

I was looking earlier and you can get 2010 GT500s with low miles for around 40k. I know that's out of your price range but if you could swing it, you'd be getting the best of both worlds.

Really? I've been watching cars.com and my local craigslist here in the Seattle area for weeks and I haven't found anything with less than 10K miles for less. I don't want to be paying too much.

To answer the questions above, it's going to be a daily driver but I only drive 12 miles each way and run the occasional errand on the weekend. I put way less than 8k miles a year on my car.
