Hello all,

I got me a Meter4It sequential/chase light kit for my 2006 convertible.

Everything is pretty straight forward except for one issue.

Is there anywhere in the trunk where I can tap a 12v power source for this kit? The red wire on it is way too short to run to the cab or fuse box, and there's also the matter of the firewall between the trunk and cab on the convertible models. The trunk on these bad boys is like a solid steel cage.

Any thoughts? Pics would be awesome.

I'm not familiar with that kit - for my CDC sequentials it was a simple plug and play.

But if you have to run a line up it can be done easily. There is space between the seat back and the firewall. Pull up the bottom cushion and you can see it. I ran some wiring for nitrous up through there when I had it, and my aftermarket Sirius antenna wire comes in the same way.

 

I put the same kit in my '06 GT 'vert. I did it just like JimC said. No problem. I just fished the red wire down behing the rear seat back and ran it along the passenger side to the fuse box.

 

Thanks for the info fellas. I've been needing to clean under my rear seats anyway, so I might as well suck it up and go with it. I'll probably have to add some more wire to what it came with though.

Am I correct in thinking the fuse box is that panel on the passenger side in front of the door? Never done any electrical work on this one, only older Mustangs.

Goldenpony, you don't happen to remember which fuse you connect the lead wire to, do you?

Also, I read about the fact that the lights still go through the sequence when you use your brake after I bought it. I'm not to happy about that. Cops around here are always screwing with people. Have you ever had a problem with that? I sure wish Meter4It would put out a mod that would change that action.

 

Got the wire under the seats. Can't believe I never noticed there was such a gap there, but then again, I've never taken the back seats out.

After I pulled it through, I got a great idea...

What if I connected it to the hot wire on the accessories jack in the center console? I'm right there at it now. Would that work?

 

Sure it would.

 

If you don't want to go all the way to the front there is wire with 12v switched under the center console. If you have an automatic it's the wire going to the shifter assy. If it's a manual the wire is there but not connected.

That wire has 12v switched and 12v with lights on, so practical for mods and you can route the wire under the carpet at the rear of the console and goes under the seat (imagine like just over the driveshaft)

 

Just a quick update everyone.

Accessories jack under the arm rest worked like a champ. Tapped into the green wire and all is good. This is a cool kit, a little different from the rest of the sequential tail light crowd.

Still wish the lights would not sequence when you use the brake. It does it pedal on AND pedal off.

Oh well, I'm going to go drive around and see if I can get a ticket right off the bat!

 

No reason at all for a ticket. Many cars have the same setup.

 

as far as i know only the webelectrics kit does not sequence initially when breaking.
also doesn't need an additional wire, just plug and play.
