I'm not a fan of salvaged titled cars either. I'd say keep looking around. As for supercharging it, drive a while first to see if anything needs to be fixed/replaced. Give yourself some time to look at the different superchargers and pick one that best suits you.

Yeah, they're OK, I guess.

I wouldn't buy a salvage titled car unless it was from a friend, and I had plans to keep it a very long time. If he is selling it for 12k and its a GT500? Yeah something is def bad? You get what you pay for with that one.

You also probably want to own a car before you make plans for it. I know you're probably brain storming but you don't know until you own it. I had plans to S/C my GT but I have lost interest in doing that now.

Well, I went and had a look at the 2007 Shelby GT, and asked to see the title.

The story goes; the uncle purchased it at auction in Florida as a wrecked car. He has a dealership but is having his nephew sell the car. I had a look at the title and the car is still registered with Florida under the ownership of the insurance company. Sounds like their wanting to save the registration fee of transferring it to them. I told them I would have to have the title in their name before going to the bank for the loan because the bank is going to write the check to whoever is showing as the owner on the title. They replied they wanted a deposit if that the case. Anyway we were both polite to each other. The car looked in pretty good shape, except for a bit of wear here and there.

Anyway I got the VIN number, but probably have to skip on this car.

But it would be nice to have it and s/c it.

I would run the other way especially since they are asking for money up front.

The reason they don't want the title in their name is because of liability and cost to transfer title to their company name. I'm sure it would also cause their insurance to go up as well.

Salvage titles are a crap shoot and on top of that what are you compromising in safety? Driver may have walked away from the first crash, will you be so lucky in the second crash? Some insurance companies will not insure a salvage title.
