Default Tranny question

Hay guys just a quick question do the manual trans have a safety so that people to put in reverse while moving forward? I know from 5th to R there is but if I would be shifting from 3rd to 4th but accidently put in reverse what would happen

Reverse isn't syncronized so it's unlikely you would get it in. If you tried, there would be grinding, serious damage to the reverse gear and other gears from the pieces. Should it somehow go in.... boom, hot oily pieces everywhere. There is a gate for reverse, if the trans, shifter and driver are functioning properly, it should not be a concern.
