I'd do a carfax on anything with an aftermarket hood. It's probably been wrecked. Of course your son is going to wreck it anyway so.............................

I believe that Moose was trying to explain that it is a whole lotta car with a whole lotta power.
My oldest is 26 and I won't allow him to drive my Mach. The car has a lot of temptation that goes with it. There are times that I have trouble keeping myself in check. Especially when some guy that you have never seen before wants to challenge you.

probably would have been better if he had said that instead of saying his son would wreck though.

Personally I think the car is fine for someone who is responsible regardless of age. OP can determine that. My first car was a Camaro SS. (Yes, I said it, I admit it) It was a powerful car for a 16 year old with 0 driving experience. I did not get any speeding tickets and I never wrecked it. I stayed in my comfort zone and never left it until I was comfortable using more power. I wasn't texting (didn't have cell phones then..lol) or driving drunk or high or any other stupidity. I also never let my friends egg me on to more danger (although many attempts were made by them for more speed).

So, you CAN be 16 with a sports car and still live to talk about it.

I would've understood the wreck comment if it was daughter and not son. Anyway if he gets a manual I think it'll be less likely to be in an accident caused by him than an automatic because of how boring automatics are and the attention required with manual. Even when I was younger and driving all over TX I just paid attention to everything with a manual for shifting purposes.

He is a very responsible kid (not just because he's mine). My first car was a 66 Pontiac GTO....I was not the most responsible kid.....I did not wreck the car but a got 6 speeding tickets in an 8 month period so I understand how that is possible.

Really, I just want to be sure that the car I buy for him is in excellent condition and doesnt turn out to be a nightmare on my wallet! Mods are fine.....just dont want or need any catastrophic failures!

I would prefer this deal:

But that is just me....I dont need a V-8 and prefer the ease of an automatic transmission.

Is there a reason you are using a Buy Here Pay Here? Only asking to see if its credit related, friend works there, only place in town, etc.. If not, what about some other places around you? Or Ebay.. I found my car on Ebay. Worst case, if you are having to use that place, I would at least go to a few other places and look at what they have just to compare and see if you are getting a good deal at lovitts.
