Just because the GT500 has more hp than those 2 seater coupes you listed doesn't mean it's necessarily faster.

Have you considered curb weight or even gearing ratios? hp/ton numbers?
+1...

The 13 Viper has 660 hp but a price tag closer to $94,500. So double the price for only 10 more hp. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Also the GT500 has more hp than the Porsche 911, Corvette, Camaro, and M3. Doesn't say which models though but I'm guessing its the top models of each car class.

The only ones that beat it were the Lambo and Ferrari.

So is the GT500 the fastest 1/4 Mile?
Good luck getting the 13 GT500 for 59k

I recently got to drive a GTR and stretch its legs a bit. I was impressed with how well that car pulls. It's very very quick and fun from a stop. If I needed AWD, or was into FAST (but perhaps uninspiring) twistie racing, I'd consider a used GTR. Don't think I'd shell out close to 100k for it new, but then again neither would I spend that on a Z06 new (with Z07 options).

GT500 certainly is a LOT of bang for the buck. Won't be as quick around a curvy track as the GTR, or (most likely) Viper, but probably a lot easier to drive home.

Evolution performance numbers on the GT500 0-60 are inspiring, but also not realistic on the street. You're really not going to see sub 3 second 0-60 times from anything that isn't AWD on street tires. But hell, anything under 4 seconds is so fast that on the street, I don't really give a damn about the extra .5-1 second it takes. Within 4-5 seconds I'm already breaking the law.

Magazine times are great for a general idea, but who really cars which car is faster from the factory. I'd rather know how much money I need to put into it after the purchase and what I can expect to get for that money.

Based solely on 1/4 mile and hp, the gt500 can't be beat for the money, that doesn't make it somehow better than a viper or ferrari.
HOLY F-IN $HIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that the GTR is nothing to laugh at or dismiss. They put down about the same power as the 13 GT500, yeah, it's a different kind of power since they a re a high revving engine, but I think it would pretty much be a drivers race stock for stock, either drag or road course.
And weight is a big difference between ther GT500 and the other supercars, plus several of them are AWD. Bang for buck, GT500 is probably about the best, plus is's still a great platform to start modding on, so is the viper, but when you get into the exotics, there isn't much left on the table to do.

Shelby weighs 3891, 662 hp 631 tq v8 charged
Viper weighs 3300 , 640 hp 600 tq v10 n/a
I think id take the viper everytime, put a charger on it and its just going to get ugly lol. The shelby is just too heavy imo.

I love mustangs, they are great cars, but we need to stop acting like they are the holy grail of automotive industry, lets face it, there are better/faster/efficient-er cars, its not bad, id still take a gt500 over a gtr any day idc about numbers, i will probably never hit a drag strip, its about the feeling of driving a freaking 662hp roaring american beast

As somebody who knows quite a bit about the GT-R, I'll throw my 2 cents in. It is probably one of the most amazing cars I have driven, and I have driven quite a few amazing cars, from Gallardos to Italias, I've driven them most of them, and as a sport car - it has no peers, not anywhere close to it's price point. Even at $95,000, it is a bargain.

Comparing it to a 370Z is like comparing the GT500 to a Ford Focus. The 2012 GT-R is the real deal, and is essentially unbeatable by any car on any road course. You will need to show up with a $250,000 Ferrari, Lambo, or limited production Porsche GT3/GT2 to have a chance against one, and even then you will probably lose.
