Hi Guys,
I live in Padova, Italy, and I just bought a 2010 Mustang V6. I love the car, and joined your site at a friend's suggestion, because I want to get more HP and handling out of it.

Yes, I could have bought a V8, but with the oppressive Italian taxes based on engine size, the V6 made more sense.

I read some of your posts, and the first mod I want to make is the intake, so I have two questions:
1. Should this be my first mod?
2. If so, which one of these two should I get?

I was told you can get better your fuel consumption also with the air filter? Is it true?
I look forward to being part of your community, and thanks in advance for the input.

Grazie,
Luca

I'd go with the JLT.

If you can find one with a SCT tuner that would be nice unless they have switched to the Bama ones there.
Am has great customer support too.

Yes you can get better fuel mileage BUT if the increase power makes you drive faster it wont make a lick of difference haha.

A tuner and CAI is always the best first mod.
After that look into changing your gearing ratio if you want more for the second step
DO NOT buy a CAI WITHOUT a tuner. It is a waste of money. Most of the power comes from the tuner.
Call AM for the best help. They help alot better than you guessing what you need over the net.

I'd have to lean with a combo from AM but not necessarily the JLT although it's a decent choice.

You'll rarely gain any respectable fuel mileage with a CAI & tune. And if you did, it would take years just to break even from spending that $600 US on the combo. There are no fuel saving "gizmos" that work. The only way to save gas is by changing your driving style and walking more.

Welcome. Good first choice. Get the jlt combo just as you have posted.

Forget about any fuel economy gain. If you're worried about fuel consumption, buy a Fiat.

Luke81,

Welcome to MF & Congratulations on the Sixxer!

You'll meet a ton of great people & find a lot of great reads on this forum!

To answer your questions, I always recommend CAI & Tune as your first modifications! These mods will start to free up some air & the let the ECU know whats going on.

A JLT Performance Next Generation Cold Air Intake completely replaces the restrictive stock factory air box and inlet tube allowing for a measured increase in airflow for more horsepower, improved torque, and better fuel economy, all while filtering out harmful power robbing particles. Depending on your daily driving habits you can see 5+MPG gains!(Highway,Town Driving,Always full throttle ECT....)

The SCT Power Flash Tuner features Bama Performance custom tunes that are written specifically for your Mustang. Our tunes are based on a 19 point questionnaire to deliver the most power and performance possible for your Mustang’s modifications. All Bama Performance tunes are tested and proven on our very own in-house Dynojet 224xLC Chassis Dyno.

We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions or need assistance!
