Default How reliable??

Well I'm looking to do a nitrous setup as my buddy is getting rid of his 75 shot kit off his gt and was wondering if that will be to much for my car and what stuff will I have to buy to fit it on my v6?

If it fits the S197 GT it will fit your 4.0. What kit is it (Zex, NOS, Nitrous Express, etc)?

Does it have a window switch? If not, you will want one. I had the Zex kit and although it supposedly learns when you are at WOT and doesn't fire off until then, it will read it pretty low in the rpm's. Spraying at less than 2,300 rpm is not good and that is when the engine will break. I was lining up one night and had the system armed expecting the system to wait for WOT - pre-staged, brought the RPM's up to 1,800 to stage and the system read me at WOT and fired off. The window switch will block the signal until you reach the rpm you set for the nitrous window to open, and close it when you reach your upper limit.

Also, get a tune for nitrous. It isn't a good daily driver tune, but nitrous is a track only power adder anyway. No need to change from the stock plugs because the stock 4.0 plugs are already pretty cold.

Does the kit have a bottle heater and blow down tube? If not you will want those so that if your disc bursts you don't fill the cabin with nitrous. And the bottle heater is needed so that you can keep the pressure up, especially in early spring or late fall racing.

I ran a 75 shot of nitrous on the car for two years. Pulled it at 90,000 miles and put the Xcharger on. It had 203,000 miles on it when I sold after ordering my 2013. So nitrous won't be too much for your car. Now a 125 or 150 shot may be too much but a 75 is no problem.

It's a zex kit and I will have to buy all that stuff you said as he doesn't have them. I thought I saw a thing that you could program it so as the rpms went up it would increase the spray

That is a progressive controller - different from a window switch. Rather than the shot hitting all at once it brings it on gradually where the window switch simply stops the signal until the rpm's are high enough.

While it isn't necessary a purge kit is good to have. Do the burn out and as you are rolling up to pre stage hit the purge and you have fresh nitrous ready when you launch. I found that the car performed better when I did a purge like that than it did when I didn't bother with a purge.

Get a picture of everything that he is selling to you so that we can see if there are any parts you will need to pick up.
