Default Roush Axelback Exhaust Install Help

Installed the Roush O/R last night on my 05 GT and ran into some alignment problems. I am a novice mechanic so I'm sure there was some user error somewhere. Passenger side came off and went on like a dream but the driver side gave me some trouble.

Both tips are not quite center through the cutouts in the bumper. The driver side needs to come up a few inches and the passenger needs to come right an inch or so. Is the alignment based on how the pipe connects to the mid or do the hangers determine where the tips sit? It didn't seem to matter what I did with the hangers, nothing helped. I'm going to uninstall tonight and try again.

What do I look for? What are some things to keep in mind to make sure the tips are flush in the middle of the cutouts?

Thanks for any advice.

didnt know there were roush axlebacks for pre 2011 mustangs.. but

try loosening up the exhaust tip clamps and adjusting, then tighten them down while someone holds them in the correct position

Yes there are Roush axelbacks for the 05-09's. Legal, Off road and Extreme. In order to get my drivers side muffler on, I had to unbolt te hanger, put the muffler in the midpipe, clamp it and then bolt the hanger back on. It wasn't an alignment issue though, it was that I did ot have space to slide the muffler pipe onto the midpipe.

When you are tightening everything back up, start on the exhaust near the front of the car and work your way back. I've used those rubber door stops from Walmart for like a buck a piece to keep the tips where I want them to exit...just kinda jammed them between the rear valance and the muffler tip.

Like xcape said too, you probably should unbolt the hanger then get her hooked up then reinstall the hanger. It may be a little harder to get in there, but it does work. And make sure you didnt tear the rubber bushing on the hanger and that you're sticking the hook through the middle hole...not the little punch outs.

It's the mid pipe connection behind the H pipe.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to install the roush mids next weekend so I guess i'll mess with it then. For now, I guess I'll have to live with lopsided exhaust tips.
