Just remember that Ford is NOTORIOUS for ECM's running engines in a very near lean condition.

Possible, mine threw a code about after a month. I ended up getting a custom tune from Brenspeed, never regretted it.

That is how I learned about canned vs. custom tuning. It was on a 2005 F150.

Do you have to buy the hand held tuner?

A stand alone CAI adds only minimal performance gain, at the higher RPM range. The majority of the performance gain is from a hand held tuner with CUSTOM tunes. I would highly recommend purchasing the tuner and custom tunes from Brenspeed or American Muscle.

Yes, you buy the tuner and it comes with normally a choice of 3 tunes. I like Brenspeed but they don't normally update your tunes for free. AM has a tunes for life program which are highly regarded as well.

IMHO a "no tune required" CAI is just an under the hood pretty thing. Minimal performance gains at the very best.

Despite what you may think.

A CAI without a tune will net you no gains.
The tune is over 90% of the power gain with CAI's in these vehicles.
If you get any gain you are talking about 2hp without a tune.

Hi i have installed a short ram intake n wud like to upgrade it to a cold intake, which is much more efficient. The thing is for those of u who know the cars well, its kinda tricky to extend a piping down to suck in colder air n i dont intend to go dat much low cuz its kinda wet down here. so any specific directions will be much appriciated n i thank u in advance!
