I think the standard is double sided tape, I'm talking about a Velcro system like the OEM uses.

Look at this thread:

https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...he-2013-a.html

I actually just received louvers from DG Customs for my 2012. Had gotten same ones for my 2011 and they use thin strips of 3m tape and attached to glass. Looking at a velcro option myself so I can remove and clean windows. Got some industrial strength 2" velcro from Office supply store but not sure how to apply...

Thanks rogan01. I checked out that other thread and I would basically have the same questions as you; proper preparation, where to apply velcro.

One thing I noticed is that you asked which side gets the "soft"part of the velcro. The stuff that you should be using doesn't have a soft side, both sides are stiff. I would not be comfortable with the velcro that you are asking about, it just won't hang on at speed.

Try Home Depot, Lowes, etc. They have the heavy duty type that I'm referring to. I like to build/fly model planes. Most of mine are styrofoam, driven by an electric motor. Using velcro to hold batteries in place is pretty common. I tried to use this heavy duty stuff once and literally broke the plane in half when I tried to remove the battery! VERY strong when locked together.

I could be wrong but I think you are talking about "dual lock" made by 3M. It's not Velcro at all. I use this at work all the time and yes once locked together very hard to separate.

Love this car ^^^

OP,

Check out our AmericanMuscle.com website! We have a huge selection of window louvers for the s197 body style. Plus we sell them pre-painted, so you don't have to go through the hassle of painting them at another shop!

If you have any questions, just let me know!

Thanks severetitan. Makes sense (even though the velcoro I got at Office Depot says "Industrial Strenght") - I looked at the link mojobama kindly provided - dual lock and see what you mean. Will look for it at Home Depot this weekend. Just got my DG Custom louvers Tuesday. I will post a link. Got them directly from DG Custom painted Red Candy. Took about 10 days and very good paint match.

Good luck with your choice - I know it's a tough one : ) Let us know what you decide or if you narrow it down.

Was at the dealer this weekend to pick up my registration and asked a parts person about the OEM louvers and how they attached. He looked them up and said 3M tape - not velcro. They did not have any on the lot so I couldn't check for myself.

Was the velcro for specific years? Anyone have OEM louvers that can confirm? One of OPs questions was how do they attach/install.
