I agree, don't commit "Knowingly" a felony, prisons are not nice places, heck, they
don't even get to drive cars while doing time, maybe a truck?

Haven't you sold a car before? You sign a legal document stating that the mileage indicated on the odometer is actual to your knowledge...

At the very least, it's ethically wrong. Even though you might be able to legally sell it with the notation that the displayed mileage is known to be incorrect and your best guess to the true mileage is xxxxxx.

It is entirely possible to drive using the tach as your speed reference. I drove one of my previous cars that way for extended lengths of time for various reasons involving speedometer drive and/or axle parts breakage and replacement with different ratios. Car was only recently stripped and the rest sold to recycle (I even kept the replacement tach and speedometer that I finally got around to doing when the original tach started getting stupid, too).

I drove an old 66 GMC for about a year without a speedo or odometer. Mileage was unknown when I bought it, and unknown when I sold it some years later. There was actually a period where I had no gauges, as I was redoing the interior, but still needed to drive it to school and work hehe. Judged speed based on engine noise in a given gear, and fuel by rocking the truck back and forth and listening to it in the tank. The one advantage of having a gas tank behind the seats.

Possible yes, recommended no.

Not to mention if your speedo is off and you get a speeding ticket and you happen to mention "oh my speedo is off anyways" I can only imagine the can of worms that opens...
