what a novel that was! Very informative, so 0-20 or 5-20 is what I'll use.

lol...Im with you. Don't choke on your dinner when you read that I just take my cars to grease monkey. I at least put M1 in the 2010 when I had it, but the GT500 hasnt had it's first oil change yet, and it's going to get M1 then too from a little monkey covered in grease.

I guess Im old school. I remember my mother making a HUGE deal when we'd get the oil changed in the plymouth fury or monte carlo like once a year and 15k miles or something that'd be insane today at the service station. Then again, I remember when the guy came out, filled the gas, checked the oil, tires, etc...

It was an eye opener for me too. Before reading it, I always thought thicker was better. Now I know that Ford recommends 5W-20 for a reason.

You really need to consider what kind of use/abuse you're subjecting your engine to.

One of the engineers who was closer to the 3v 4.6L development than anybody here (that I know of) would never use xW-20. That he's been involved with road racing (and some rather high-level racing of an endurance nature) should count for something.

I'm sure that a mildly driven 4.6L will live just fine with 0W-20. But if you're getting into the throttle for more than just quick bursts of straight line acceleration you should probably be thinking in terms of xW-30 instead.
