Tracking Vin #
I was able to track my VIN 2 ways, the first was because I have a friend who is a supervisor at the plant, but the other way is to simply call Ford Customer Service.
If you have your VIN, they can update you somewhat on the progress.
If you haven't gotten a satisfactory response from them, I can look into it for you. (You'd have to give me your VIN, of course, and I can understand if you don't want to do that)
(just got mine 1 week ago!!!)

Well the site is down right now (hoping/praying FoMoCo didnt squash them) but theres a guy at blueovalforums.com that will help more than anyone at ford...he works at a plant and is helping people track their builds on his own time...if the site comes back online, go over to www.blueovalforums.com, click on 'ford employees', then click on the sticky up top- '2006 mustang orders' or something like that...'Kzinti' will let you know every step of the way- some guys cars were 'lost' for weeks, he got the lowdown right from the floor guys- Ford really ought to make him employee of the year or something- their $hitty customer care hotline is usually days behind and just plain not very helpful...Kzinti knows WAY more than even the dealers. Hopefully Ford will wake up and get behind him 100%- EVERYONE thats asked for help has gotten more than they ever expected- he's a hero to a lot of mustang 'waiters'...as of a few weeks ago he can email you a pdf of your window sticker even before its built- kinda cool. any quality holds, he can find out if its a leak, or a dent in the roof...Ford seems to prefer to just leave you hangin...
That's pretty cool that guy does all of that. I live in Detroit, and have a friend who works at the plant, so I was trying to be able to go to the plant and take pictures of it coming down the final line. I thought that would have been pretty cool, but it was made on a weekend when my friend wasn't working, so I missed out.
With the VIN # I was able to get this detailed information:
VIN 1ZVHT82H065XXXXXXX
AON M091XXXX
Paint Commit 7145
Trim Final Commit 1320
Body On 9/9/05 8:10 AM
Paint On 9/9/05 4:20 PM
Trim Final 9/10/05 2:01 PM
Not as cool as a picture, but still when you're waiting so long, it's nice to see it!

Yes, you can get cool stuff too, like your window sticker before the car is even built!
