Default Ratchet Shifter for 2011-12 Auto

Anyone have experience with or feedback on this? Does it only let you shift 1-2-3? Can You use it if car is in 4-5-6 gear? Never saw this before!

Is this my first mod ever???

Ok - no replies/feedback - so I went to the American Muscle site and saw the product & watched the video:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/tci-ra...ratchetShifter

Going to call AM and ask:

1. Only see it available for 2005-2009 on site - Is it available for 2010-2013?
2. If it is - How does it work with the 6 spd transmission vs the 5 spd shown? (i.e., video shows it using 1-2-3 with D being 4 and OD being 5). Since the 2012 (mine) doesn't have OD, What does "D" do or act as - I assume it is 4th, then 5th and 6th depending on what RPM you shift into it with.
3. If you are on the highway doing 60 and car is in 6 at 2000 rpm, can you shift to 3 for acceleration?

Note: I see on the video that the tester first shifts using the OEM shifter - 1-2-3-D. Can this be done with my OEM shifter? Any damage that can be done? (of course... but how likely - any nannies...) Never done this before on any car - this is my first automatic Mustang.

Not sure if anyone else is interested in this - but would still like any feedback as this seems pretty cool.

It shifts the same gears as stock shifter does. 1,2,3 and D. It seems to me to be just for looks. It does look pretty cool, and I believe it is available for the 11-13s. If you want something that looks cool, well I'm not sure it is worth your hard earned $500. Basically AM's approach is it won't skip gears and it will be better performance, it also won't automatically shift like stock will. I don't buy it. (Literally)

Thanks - Coming from manuals, the only real problem I find with the auto is when I am (car is) in 6th gear, on highway for example, going about 60mph/2000rpm and I need to accelerate quickly to merge to another lane because someone may not be courteous and speeds up to not let me in. In a manual, I know I can shift to 4th for example, and get in. In the auto, I just have to floor it. There is some hesitation then I'm not sure what gear it has shifted into when it "kicks in" - could be 4th? 5th?...(anyone know?) I understand this is the "nature of the beast" so to speak but I chose an auto this time for other reasons.

This shifter looked like, when I saw it, I could, in those situations, effectively shift to 3rd to accelerate from 6th (probably going from about 2000rpm to about 5200rpm then). I could then shift back to "D" after getting in the lane and I figure that I would be 4th now and the car would then shift automatically through 5th, 6th.

fyi - Not interested in it for 'racing" at all.

Not sure if the above makes sense or if I am right/wrong - I am just really guessing and any corrections would be greatly appreciated.

Also - Not sure if a tune (what I had been, and still am, considering) would help me with this situation in any way - as much - same - or better.

Am I making any sense??? Thanks again to all for any insight here!

I am all for a tune from BAMA! Life time free tunes is great! It will tighten up the feel of the transmission and it will give you more passing power. In the new trans its passing gear is 5th. I think you would like a tune way more than a ratchet shifter

Oh and shifting down in then back into drive gets jerky. I wouldn't do it at high speeds
