This can't be right. The Boss 302 has more mileage than the GT? From Ford's website:

Because the GT and Cobra has the same MPG, yet the Cobra is supercharged? The Boss 302 isn't supercharged yet has more hp than the GT, so shouldn't it be the other way around? V6-19mpg, GT-17mpg, 302-15mpg, Cobra-15mpg etc. etc.

Not if the boss engine is the more efficient engine. Fuel economy comes down to efficiency.

the powerband is higher up and the engine produces slightly less torque. I can see it being easier to squeak out better mpg. I thought they were rated at the *same* hp though and not better. are you sure your source is decent?

Doesn't the boss have steeper gearing?

By "steeper", do you mean taller? If so, then no, it just has 500 more RPM to work with over the stock Coyotes. The Boss 302's come w/ 3.73's.

I can promise you that's wrong. I took a 500+ mile round trip and I was lucky to get like 22 on the highway. I average about 14 generally when I'm in town. I had a 2012 GT before this that I got much better gas mileage.
