Door ding protection
Hello folks!
Now that I have my car I'm wondering what you all do to protect yourself from door dings other than the obvious. Any products or home remedies out there that act at good door ding protection.
Thanks!!

You could go the 3M vinyl approach, as people say it helps keep key scratches at bay- but it's expensive and unless done professionally will look off. And it won't do squat for door dings from careless idiots.
Best bet is what BigRed suggested. Stay the hell away from other people- all of them. I've seen high dollar car owners carelessly thrown their doors into other cars where I live, so it's not always limited to rust buckets. I park way out, or generally at the top of a parking garage, and still just last weekend found a fresh scratch on my hood (looks like a key, but could have been from those idiots with the leaf blowers).

I park in a garage at home .. and I park on the deepest level at the parking garage at work, in the furthest corner, away from where everyone else parks .. and I park in a spot that only allows one car to park next to me.. and I park far away from that spot to give them plenty of room if they choose to park there : P
out and about? park away from people and walk a bit. don't take up multiple spots, it encourages people to do douchey things.

As mentioned above, try to park in corners and away from other cars.
But for me, I don't worry about them anymore. I've discovered the joys of Paintless Ding Removal. I just wait every year until I get a few, and then get my PDR guy to come over and remove them. They usually will give you a deal on multiple dings.

I find its not always enough to stay away from people. I find that unless I hide my car in the deep recesses of garages it gets unwanted attention.
BTW 07black, not to threadjack op, but I cant wait to see my Irish go up against Bama in the natl title game...
