I have 05 v6 4.0l mustang and my rear axle is bent. My car calls for a 31 spline. But when i pull it out . it was a 28 spline. HELPPPPP please. I look on websites but they call for 31 spline in a 2005 v6 4.0l mustang

The 7.5" rear end in the V6 is a 28 spline. The 31 spline is only in the 8.8" rear end that was installed on the V8 only from 2005-10.

Only way your car would have a 31 spline rear end is if you changed to the 8.8" from a GT. Since you pulled the axle and saw it was a 28 spline, then obviously you still have the stock 7.5" rear end.

Here is a left side off eBay. You didn't say which side. At least you know that they are available. Almost any good wrecking yard can get one and have it to you in no time. Especially since you are in the 48 contiguous states. In Alaska it isn't so easy. lol

Maybe this would be a good opportunity to upgrade to a GT 8.8 and high performance gears (3.55, 3.73 or 4.10). This will eliminate the one wheel spin and add some power to the wheels!

Can you do the upgrade easily as swapping them?

It is a direct swap, other than swapping the pinion flange. Any Mustang GT or GT500 from 2005-2010 can be used - but the pinion flange for the GT is different from the V6 driveshaft.

You can use any Mustang rear end from 2011 to 2014 because they all are 8.8" rear end. With those model years you need to check the pinion flange because some have the correct flange already.
