You will run across this quite often. There is always one idiot who thinks they can beat you when you know they haven't a snowballs chance in hell.

When I bought my 2012 5.0, we had a really nice couple of days in December of 2011, so I took it to work those days, and sure enough someone in a blacked out import wanted to go at it at 5:30 in the morning.

I just wanted a relaxing windows down cruise to work, it was 65 degrees and went up to 70 that day, but nope he wouldn't let it go. So I just mashed the accelerator and left him so far behind he seemed abandoned.

Pull of my exit, stop at the mini-mart for the mandatory 24oz coffee, pack O smokes and a morning snack and who comes pulling in as I walk out? Yep... speed racer.

Normally I don't like being cocky about cars simply because there is always someone faster than you, but this was one of those moments it just had to be done.

Now since this was a year ago I am paraphrasing a bit, but the conversation went something like this...

"Well, you finally made it. (No response, he gets out looks at me) You're never going to learn 1.4L of Minute rice with a fart can and 5% tint will not match a 5.0L with 412hp stock. Yet you just gotta try don't ya... instead of the victory you expected it was an ego crushing defeat that luckily no one witnessed and will be laughing at you for when they tell their friends.

It is no Mustang beater by any stretch, but don't rule out a V8 pickup truck's power. I have a 2004 Silverado 2wd with a 5.3L V8 (about 300 bhp), Flowmasters and a 3.73:1 rear axle. It's pretty damn quick - for a truck - and the engine puts out a very good amount of torque.

My Silverado is a lot more powerful than the old 305 versions, obviously, but I did not buy it for street racing. I think people like to mess with me because it sounds very nice (true duals from the cats on back).

There is a chap not too far from here who has a Ford 'Super Duty' F-Series with the Powerstroke turbodiesel. It has all kinds of goodies on it, including a Banks turbocharger, bed-mounted smoke stacks and other stuff that makes it go like hell. I have seen it smoke Mustang GT coupes first-hand, at least off the line. The compression of that thing must be in the stratosphere!

Sure I have. I'm comparing apples to apples here. The OP is talking about a dog slow 305. If he was talking about a bully dog halo truck, I'd tell him to back down, lol.

That made me laugh. Very funny.

Having a huge ***** doesn't make me want to have a whip-out contest with every guy I meet, lol.

I live in truck Usa (wv) and we got a saying around here.
Trucks are allowed to be fast...until the first turn
Take him out an old country road and beat the brakes off him!
