Hard wire into power socket
Hey guys, I'm trying to find a DIY on how to tap into the power socket in the console for a RCA converter but nothing really in detail..I'm trying to connect my iPhone the composite cables from the HDMI converter, but the converter requires a wall outlet power, so I wanted to tap into the 12v power socket in the console. Any help?

If your RCA converter requires a wall outlet to get power, then it takes 120V AC power. The power outlet in our cars spits out 12V DC power. Two completely different animals. So you either need a DC to AC converter (which would be silly, I’ll explain why below), or a car specific power unit for your iPhone.
Using a DC to AC converter would be silly because the iPhone runs on DC power (I don’t know how many volts). So you would be converting from DC to AC and back to DC. Converting consumes energy which is dissipated in heat (like the heat coming from the power brick for your laptop). So it is better to avoid converting between AC & DC power when ever possible.
