I have an automatic, because my commute used to be full of heavy traffic. Don't let these manual guys fool you. If they were to be real serious drag guys, they would switch to an automatic in a second. If you are using your car everyday, NOTHING beats an auto. It's a 6-speed, just like the manual. You don't lose a gear. The difference in 0-60 time, if that is important to you, is minimum. Get what suits you best. and if it IS an automatic - know that you have ONE fan here. Me.

There is more to the automotive hobby than drag racing. Honest.

The only motorsports activity I can think of whose skills are any LESS applicable to normal street driving than drag racing is Joie Chitwood's dare-devil driving on two wheels exhibition. No matter how strong the appeal of the quarter or eighth mile track 1/8 is to you, don't let the noise, excitement and show of drag racing blind you to this.

In every day driving, the transmission you want is the one that works with you the best. Because we're all slightly different as individuals, that won't be the same for everybody, no matter how well anybody else's choice works for them. I know that. But do you?

OP has made his decision early last week, and I'm glad that his choice ended up being for his reasons and his experience. Even though I'd always choose differently, I've got his back on this.

It was fun till I hit Brooklyn traffic. Wow did that really suck. So much work. Call me lazy but I like to drive my car at piece. I like to cruise and be relaxed.
Good choice for your driving. I concur with Norm, above.

Either way, enjoy the experience. You'll be glad you got the Mustang.
