Default 2005 gt gauges

For the last year or two the gaiges in my 05 conv. have been going haywire. First the fuel gaige spun around to an abnormal position and then it stopped moving entirely. It sits on empty. The speedometer was running way off (went to 85 MPH when I was only going 45 to 55). That seemed to correct itself and is now Ok. The tach was off but now it just stays on zero al of the time. the ampmeter is not woking at all and the oil pressure is the only one working properly. Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks,
Ken

Stepper motors have gone bad, it's a common problem especially with the older S197s.

Here are a few picture tutorials people did on replacement of the motors.

Same thing happened on mine. Ford replaced my whole instrument cluster.

I replaced all of my stepper motors myself. It cost me under 30$ from amazon. They all work perfect now. You just have to be comfortable with electronics

My stepper motors are going out on my RPM, fuel, & temp gauges . They work a majority of the time. However, when the temp is 50 degrees or cooler, the temp gauge doesn't move. My RPM gauge is usually off by 200-300 RPM. Knock on wood, no issues with the speedometer gauge.

Default Speedo Stopped Working

My speedo quit last weekend while driving home from work. Research revealed gauge failure was a common problem with my generation car. I mailed off my gauge cluster monday for an 'overhaul' and received the cluster back today - everything working as promised and with a lifetime warranty. Easy removal - install. Addressing upholstery issues next.

The forum's search engine is your friend. Many 2005's and early 2006's suffered from this issue.
