Default 2010+ Shift Light

Since upgrading from my 05 Roush to a 14 GT I've been lamenting the loss of my shift light.

In my Roush I had it hidden away in the driver's side vent. I like that I could easily see it day and night, but that it was cleanly hidden away.

I want to do something similar with my 14, but the circle vent doesn't seem as easily accessible.

I was thinking of doing it in the rectagle vents in the middle, but what I'd really like to do is to replace the 12V plug in the center of the dash with a shift light. I think that would be HOT! It would be nice and hidden and then I could just open the flap when I needed to see it for "spirited" driving.

Has anyone done such a project? How hard would it be to access that plug to replace it?

You'd just just a Raptor light. I found a thread in another forum that shows it, but doesn't show how...I'd post the link, but I don't think they allow cross forum referencing...

Maybe a bitly will work...

The manual for the SHR start button shows how to remove the 12v outlet:

Did you ever do the install?
I was planning on that install this weekend. Went with the MSD should fit in there nicely
