i was like..."oh, cool" but got me thinking damn, in a year my cars gonna be totally obsolete! But not too worried because this is the best I can barely afford right now, and its fast enough for me and I like how it looks. And maybe the s550 won't look TOO much different, or maybe some people will like the s197 more? Shoot I know some people who like the sn95 more then the s197!

My dad still prefers his old '65! He says it doesn't matter about what model you got, a Mustang is a Mustang. They are always going to come out with newer and newer models, so don't really worry about it.

To go back to the original post, I think that the ability to be happy with what you have is an important skill--without it, you'll always be chasing the next great thing. In addition, I find it hard to consider people who are "rippin'" on me as friends.

Trying to stay current with your car, house, tv, computer, phone, etc, is generally too expensive for most people and takes a huge amount of time out of your life. And, by the time your get the new hot thing, it is already obsolete because the designers already have the next one on the drawing board.

So what's a guy do do? I started by getting rid of all my "friends" who didn't make me feel good to be around them. Next I looked at my major proposed purchases: Why do I want to buy it? What will I get if I do? What other uses do I have for the money? If I am still making payments on it 5 years later, how will that affect my life? If I keep it how will I feel?

Make a considered decision and be happy with it.

Forever. Bought it new on 09.03.2005 so it's coming up on 8 years. Still love driving it just like that first day and it will remain with me and my family forever.

I'm considering buying a lightly used C7 next year if the one I want is available. So maybe a year.

I'm 19 and specially ordered my '13 GT when I was 18. Love it to death and plan on keeping it for the rest of my life... as well as working on it for the rest of my life! I'm replacing almost everything on the car from internals to driveshaft to transmission (tremec) down the road. Don't really care about any new models. If you love what you got then enjoy it instead of having anxiety about the next gens (which might not be that great in my eyes)

Don't worry about what your "friends" say. You got something that you wanted and if they don't like it, well that is their problem, not yours.

As for me, I love these 'stangs so much I'll probably always have an S197. The only deal is, will it be the same one or what? It just depends. But since '97 my wife and I have always had a stang in our corral and I dont see that ever changing.

Or, get new friends who are dirt poor. Pick em up in the trailer park and give em rides to work. You'll never get more compliments in your entire life! lol
