Default Fuel additive question

Hello. I hope this counts as a tech question. Please let me know if not.

With my previous car (Infinit G35) I boosted my gas with NOS fuel additives periodically. I liked that it was keeping the fuel system clean and, well, it gave the car some noticeable punch.

Not that I need it, really, with the new 2014 Mustang GT (track package) that I just picked up. I am wondering, though... is it safe to put octane boosters in the GT? Should I wait until I a few thousand miles down the road? Let her break in a bit first..?

Thanks in advance,

David

I know that octane boosters and most other additives were a no-no in the 4.6L so, IMO, I'd be hesitant to put any additives (other than fuel system cleaners) in a 5.0.

Don't use octane booster. I have, as well as others, run SeaFoam in a tank of gas to keep it clean on the inside and it has done very well. No adverse issues and it cleaned up some bad idling on one 2008 GT/CS I know. In a new car, unless you run crappy gas, I wouldn't expect you to need to run any cleaner through for a while. Just stick to Pure or major brand names for gas. They run cleaner than most local gases.

Gas companies say we shouldn't add anything to the fuel. Though with the introduction of ethanol, makes me wonder if we really should to combat the adverse effects of it. I am a big proponent of seafom though, especially in DI engines. Check toptiergas.com for more info.

I think octane boosters are snake oil and wouldn't use them. The only additive I use occasionally is Iso-Heet, in order to get rid of any water that may be in the tank. I use Chevron gasoline exclusively, so my car gets a small dose of Techron every time I buy gas.

I use Sea Foam time to time, and almost always only BP gasoline {with "Invigorate"} in all my vehicles {except my '74 Triumph Trident ..... it gets gas with no ethanol if available}.
