Default Tpm sensor all years same thing?

I installed some 2008 svt rims on my 2013, when i try to program the tpm sensor with the key dance and special button sensor kit on the wheel, nothing happen, either my remote is out of luck or the 08 sensor are not compatible with the 2013, any thought?

No, 05-09 have strap on sensors, 10+ have valve stem sensors. Different sensors. You can swap you're original sensors into the 08 wheels.

I have an 08 GT. I originally had band style sensors installed on my Steeda wheels. I have since swapped one band style sensor for a valve stem mounted sensor & the place that did the swap when putting on new tires was able to get one valve sensor to sync with the others, just fine.

Even american muscle sells valve stem sensors for 07-09 mustangs. I just ordered 3 of them to replace my others, as I know one other is dead/finicky, & figured might as well replace the other 2 at the same time.

AFAIK there is no difference at all in the sensors, except the mounting style. You can mix and match them with band sensors if needed & they should program just fine.

I've seen various people claim there are differences, but yet to see any technical documents on this, & as I said from first hand experience have mixed sensors synced in my car right now without issues (other than the one band sensor currently acting wonky), & as said AM sells them, & plenty of people have used them on 07-09 mustangs without issue.

ETA:I will say though, that when I originally did the syncing myself at my house it was a royal PITA. I have no idea why it was so hard, but it took me probably 30-45 mins. Do you know what your doing? You have to put it into programming mode to sync the sensors. I remember it had something to do with hitting the brake in a certain pattern. I just remember it was not easy for me to get mine to go into the programming mode for some reason. However when it finally did go into programming mode the remote worked just fine.

You can buy valve stem TPMS sensors that are compatible with 2007 to 2009 Models. The TPMS sensors for the 2010 to 2014 Mustangs are a different part number than the ones used for the 2007 to 2009 Mustangs.

so im guessing I have to unrim my oem setup to take out the valve sensor and unrim my svt to remove the old sensor and put in the valve sensor..? crap that sound a costy trip to the tire shop

You can try to it yourself at home, but I get the feeling that you probably don't have access to a good compressor nor feel comfortable getting the tire bead to reseat on the wheel properly...so yeah. Take it to the tire store. Tell them you want the stem TPMS sensors swapped over from your '13 wheels onto the ones in your current car. They do not need to remove the strap TPMS sensors...they can stay in. They just aren't doing anything. They will recommend a TPMS rebuild kit, but sounds like these are new wheels the stem sensors are coming from so tell them heck no! They are held on with a little nut on the backside so if the tech doesnt go all ape on them and break them, there is absolutely no need for a TPMS rebuild kit at all. That saves about 7-10 a wheel. The swap should cost no more than 40 bucks Im guessing.

Also it's up to you, but your wheels will now be very slightly out of balance, so I'd say drive it and if they feel like they need it, get them balanced later when you get new tires or until you can't take it anymore.

There is a difference in the sensors.

It's not the mounting style that makes the difference, it's the radio frequency used for the sensors themselves. 10+ sensors will NOT sync on a 07-09 car and vice-versa.

I too have an '08 with the old band style. When I got new tires I swapped those with the Stem style TPMS that were compatible with 07-09.

If you look at American Muscle's website they differentiate between 07-09 and 10+. The difference is the frequency used. It's not stated but that is the reason why.
