H-pipe has better sound. X-pipe has better flow (net gain of a few if any rear wheel horsepower, but sounds a little more raspy. Any type of off-road set up with the Pypebombs, Mac Boomtubes, or SLP Loudmouths is going to be very loud and have bad drone.

Also wondering this for a pair up with my JBA Axle Backs. Sorry to rain on your parade but I'm also looking for the negatives and positives of an o/r x or o/r h?

If you're going to re-engineer the exhaust, you want the H. GO to a show and hear them.

Ive always stuck with the H pipe, they say X makes a couple extra ponies or what not but when it comes to 1-2 hp no one will ever be able to tell the difference, go with what sounds better to you, youtube has plenty of videos to look at.

IMO o/r H is a better sound with the Pypes Bombs. I really like the way X pipes sound with resonators or cats... and I like the way H pipes sound without resonators or cats.

O/R H pipe:

O/R X pipe:

IDK what your goals are with it, but it's going to be loud as **** lol. I personally didn't like o/r pipes on my car.

Clip of pypes bombs with a high flow catted x:

I have a MAC ProChamber and love it. It is both an X and an H.

I've never seen a verifiable difference in HP/TQ between an o/r X or H. In my opinion, the H sounds better. Having said that, any off road mid pipe is going to sound obnoxious and terrible combined with pype bombs.

Agreed. My old off road set up was with Mac Boomtubes which are like the Pypebombs, way too obnoxious.

Here are some exhaust videos of a few set ups: http://www.youtube.com/user/MidAtlanticMustang/videos

It depends on the individual. I like the raspy burble of my Magnaflow OR X pipes.

Sounds even better with a Ghost cam tune.

Sounds better yet with Magnaflow Pro 3" axle backs.

Obnoxious in the country.... Nah... That's just normal out here. most of the pickups run with OR's...open headers or cut outs. And they're LOUDER than my Stang.
