Help dealing with the insurance
Hey everyone,
So I have posted several times in the past about an ongoing flooding problem with my 06 Mustang. It has been an absolute nightmare but after 1 year, many trips to the mechanic, and a huge set of bills, they've finally diagnosed the problem.
The punchline: It turns out that the rubber boot that goes around the shifter was not installed correctly. So whenever the car was being driven in the rain, water would splash up from underneath and enter the car. There was also one instance when the parking lot flooded up to the level just below my door, and about 1-2 inches of water entered the car.
I am trying to get some money back from my insurance company for dealing with this. However, the insurance agent is saying that the parking lot flooding was a "separate issue" because the water would have "entered through the car door." Therefore, they are trying to charge me my deductible twice. I think this is BS, because the door was closed and as far as I know, the water didn't even come up to the level of the door.
If you have any advice, I would be extremely grateful. In particular, what I really need right now is to answer this question: If the car door is closed, and water comes up to the level of the base of the car door, is it possible for enough water to enter through the closed door to flood the interior of the car with 1-2 inches of water? (Also, if it helps, I checked the door drain plugs, and they are okay)
Thanks a lot for your help. I am getting desperate to have this issue solved, considering the amount I've spent on it. This has been my 1st car that I bought last year, and I don't really know how to deal with these problems.
