Default 2nd gear problem

I have a 2008 mustang v6 standard transmission. When I shift into 2nd gear it doesn't shift into it clean. It like I can feel the gear engaging and also can kinda feel the gear rotating. If I let the rpm die down 2 like 1000 rpm and then shift it shifts into it clean and smooth. I shift gears at around 2000 rpm and if I shift at 2000 from 1 to 2 its doesn't shift smooth. Is this normal or is there a problem. Sorry this is kinda hard to explain. thanks

It could possibly be your synchro is going bad or your slave cylinder/throw out bearing is going out.

How many miles do you have on your car?

I experienced shifting issues (1st to 2nd gear) for several months, before the slave cylinder/throw out bearing went totally out and I could barely shift into any gear.

I had to jam the gears in order to drive it to a shop to replace out the whole clutch, which was not a cheap fix.

I am not sure if this is your issue or not, however I wanted to share.

I would have that taken to a shop asap because that's what is going on with mine. I will shift into second, it pops back out and grinds, then when you put it back in it works. Then when I downshift it won't catch at 2000 RPM's but catches at like 1000 but it makes my car jump hard and because I didn't take it in to get it fixed, the whole clutch is fried.

68000 miles and it doesn't pop out of gear just difficulty shifting unless I do it around 1000 rpm

Is this a new problem or one that has always been there since you have had it?

Might vary your technique, like maybe as you come from 1st towards 2nd, pause in neutral and maybe even relax on the clutch just enough that the pedal and your left foot comes up towards dash and then press again and slip into 2nd.

Not saying that you don't have a mechanical problem but there is a big jump from 1-2 and 2-3 due to the wide ratio spread and there's a lot of mass to slow down.

Also, if there is any chance you aren't getting the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, try a "clutch pedal extension" .... it's a huge improvement in position.

The slave cylinder/throw out bearing went bad on my Mustang at 65K miles.

When it totally crapped out, I could barely shift into any gear.
