Dude, I feel your pain. I ordered my 2005 on November 2004 and picked her up on May 20, 2005. The worst part of the wait was hearing family, friends and co-workers say "has your car arrived yet?" and "its not here yet!". It's a killer but believe me the wait was worth it.

In the mean time do as I did, order your mods before the car gets in!

Don't worry I wont ask you when your car is comming........ The wait is worth it.

Same thing here.. will be 8 months for me next week. The wait can be unbearable. I finally got a build date for 10/20.

The only thing I can suggest to you is two things

1. Start searching dealers on the web and travel to get your stang from somewhere down South where the allocation amounts seem to be significantly higher. You would then cancel your current order.

2. Start becoming a major pain in the but. I didn't think it would help, but soon after I started my all out blitz on a email and phone call barrage, suddenly I got moved into production.. coincidence.. perhaps but I think not.

Now my biggest hope is that all those claims of "just wait, its worth it once you drive it" are accurate!

Good luck

I had to put up with the same long wait not for the car to come in but from my wife not understnding why I wanted the car so bad. I had been preparing her for the fact that I was going to get the thing since the concept was unveiled.
big ditto here...saw the car feb 29 at Cleveland auto show- went to get a peek at the real GT(40)- always thought prettiest car ever built...but saw the mustang- spent a couple hours there, thoroughly pissing off the wife, talked to 5 people about everything- specs/build location/colors...at that time windveil blue was the only blue- I talked to the guy who was responsible for the color selections, begging/pleading for something like acapulco blue to be added as I felt the softer colors were not what a vintage mustang would be wearing...I woulda bought a white one, as second choice...couple months later sonic came out too- then I really wanted one...photochopped a pic of a fastback version w/o quarter glass, far too numerous arguements with the wife(3 kids/4 seats=big problem), But after months of arguing(and we never argue) we compromised- I get rid of two of my six cars, get the mustang. Gave away my camaro to a young lady who really really liked it, hopefully will take good care of it(was first new car I ever bought- best looking car I had too), gonna give my 93 f150 to little brother(hopefully can borrow it back once in a while)...those didnt seat 5 either, so no big loss...camaro was really hard to let go of though- I know it was a chevy, but I still loved that car. Poor old truck I wrecked when almost new- kinda wrinkly, but a great work truck/winter vehicle...My MarkVII will get salt duty now(it seats all 5 of us). Oldest son is with exwife often so we usually just take my wifes windstar when all 5 are going anywhere, had kept the mark out of the salt, but its getting rusty anyway, a new rocker before snow flies it should be good for couple more years of salt duty- nice car, but cost a small fortune to keep up with- too many doo-dads to break.
Anyway, afterfinally settling it, went to order my sonic 05 gt...Ford stopped taking orders 2 days earlier. Talk about a bummer. stopped at dealers weekly to see when I could get a 06 order in- 7/26 mine got ordered basic deluxe gt in vista blue(almost exact shade as my camaro was- darker than my 69 mustang though). only option was interior sport appearance package- long name for expensive steering wheel- I like leather wheel, prefer cloth seats, didnt want silver dash...too bad msg center wasnt available without IUP...
2 months of stress, it got built 10/8, shipped 10/10, ETA 10/13...then on 10/14, ETA 'week of 10/13'??? as of 10/15, its lost in the mail or something and driving me friggin nuts. the last days are the worst.....

oh man, that must just SUCK!!!

Ford is lucky as hell to be the only manufacturer of a mass produced car who can't make enough of them to meet the demand.

Hang in there bro, the wait will only make the day you drive your new car home all that much sweeter.
Nah, that's not the issue. Ford keeps it at the equilibrium price where the supply and demand curves intersect so that they can maximize profit. In reality, they could easily produce enough of them to meet the demand, but that would move the supply curve to the left, making the supply and demand curves intersect at a lower point, thus yielding a lower profit. And that's not how companies operate.

So yur supposed to ask your wife before you buy your Mustang?? oops I guess i forgot.

I waited for 5 months at my local dealer and then decided to go south and pick up an 06 GT. just sitting on the lot?? How does having cars sitting on the lot and not in people's driveways make Ford $$$. A dealer in NC had 45 sitting on the lot and their is not 1 in CT.

I have proudfully had a New Mustang GT as my screen saver ever since they were first unveiled two years ago. I have dreamed about owning one ever since they first were available to order. I told my coworkers that it was my dream car and some day I would own one. It took me both of those first two years to convince my wife that she wouldn't have to dye her hair bleach blonde, start smoking and wear daisy dukes and a half shirt to drive a New 2005/6 Mustang. Well the day finally came when I ordered my Black 2006 Mustang GT Premium/Manual/Dark Charcoal/stock wheels/my color/airbags/alarm/.....June 20th 2006. Well the robot lady is still saying Clean and Unscheduled when I call. I am a very patient person and even though my car hasn't been built yet what is really driving me nuts is having to say "I Don't know!" when my coworkers ask me "When are you getting your car?" Which is at least one or two people per day. I have been lurking on this site for over a year reading all of the forums from you great folks and know that it is worth the wait......but I'm starting to get frustrated with the wait and the annoying question. I live in the Seattle area and they seem hard to get around here too. I look forward to sharing my photo's with you from the mods that I plan on doing when I get it....when ever that day finally arrives if I don't go crazy first..........
So, when are you getting your car???....J/K...

I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have to wait. Got mine in October 2004. I wasn't planning to get one just yet, but one day I went to a Ford dealership and out of curiosity asked a sales person if they have any '05s. Well to my surprise they where unloadin 4 of them right at that time, 2 v-6 and 2 gts and it was even a bigger surprise when he told me the 2 v-6 where sold but the GTs where available, both exactly the same except one was auto and the other stick, and the color /upgrades I would had chosen if ordering one. When he told me they will sell the for MSRP the rest is history. One thing for sure, once you get yours, you'll forget of all the painful months you had to wait. I hope you get it soon. Good luck!!!!

Thank you all for your words of encouragement....I called this morning and still Clean and unscheduled as of 10/13/2005. Had a guy at work ask me the famous question today and I told him what I posted on this site....hopefully it will spread around the office and nobody will ask me eventually. I don't want to be rude to them because I know they have a respect for the new mustang too.....I just hope somebody at Ford reads this site and figures out that there are a lot of us out here trying to give them Money so they can post a profit instead of a loss and will increase production.....

you didn't have to go that far. Dealerships here in delaware have 5-10 of them on each of there lots.
