Default New here, wanna run my mod list by you all

hello all!

I will be getting a new 06 GT auto in the next couple of weeks, here is what i have planned. Let me know what you think:

1. C&L Performance intake and predator tuner OR JLT performance intake and SCT tuner
2. Magnaflow Catback exhaust
3. Underdrive pulleys
4. Possibly change to 3.55 gears for the auto

Any other mods i should really look at doing to my GT right away!

Thanks in advance for any input that you have for me.

Depending on how far you want to go. My 05GT Has I think everything you can do done. I don't like the body plastic just want a muscle car with the Mustang look.
My opinion is just what you did buy the car and build it don't buy these prebuilts!

Mine was mostly built by FC Customs and these guys are good. First the car will float bad at 160mph+ so lower is 2". Big HP needs saftey and tires so go to a 15"+ wide tire and good brake rotors. The fuel tank crosses the drive shaft so put a saftey loop on it. I have twisted two drive shafts so seriously do it. For HP I went with Magnaflow mufflers, X pipe and ford racing 2" headers. Ported the heads, and intake, AT something throttle body. not sure the name. Vortect 14lb. boost complete kit. Methenal injection at 90% thottle and changed the valve springs. Know I for got some stuff. FC did a custom tune on the engine and trany and its unreal. First trick we found pull the plugs gapped at 65 and cut the U shape in half so it looks like a normal plug. Regap at 30. This is a night and day change. If you don't between 1-2-3 the engine hangs on the rev. limiter.

The car now puts out 650+HP not counting Methenal with the rev limiter at 7,800rpm Shifting at 7,000rpm. Its sitting over at FC which I will be flying over to pick it up next week.
Vortech blowner failure. Should run in the 9's easy and just be a great street car. I have driven the car across the country and love the way it drives and turned out. Not to much but not to little.

Good Luck on yours.

Not bad, don't do just a cat back exhaust, get the magnaflow x pipe with the mag cats for the GT, yes they work, that's how you convert a y pipe exhaust into a true flow exhaust kit. You will get a way better sound and much better performance by doing it this way. As far as gears go I reccomend the 3.73s or the 4.10s, You won't get much of a gain with 3.55s. 4.10s will give you the best acceleration out of the buch though. But if you do your gears, the you must get a t-lok differential to. See only your back right tire supplies the power, a t-lok fixes the problem by making both wheels supply the power. This is a must for any modified v6 stang. Just incase your wondering, heres my list:

If I can make a suggestion go with the JLT CAI and not C&L. They are both good and it comes down to preference but I love my JLT, I am making good power from it and it costs over $100 less then C&L.

good list to start with....may I also suggest an electric water pump to *directly* free up 11-12 horses. Aftermarket exhaust is gonna be personal preference - I dont think prices the way they are are worth it just for minimal gains. Really it's gonna be what sound you are going for...

you wont notice any significant gains from going with 3.55's....you'll need to go with 3.73's, 3.90's or 4.10's to notice any change in acceleration. Keep in mind that if you plan on supercharging/turboing it down the road, the 4.10's and above will be practically useless if it's daily driven..

I have an 05 auto and the SCt Xcal2 tuner and Motive 3.90 gears alone are worth the money...major difference in performance with just those two mods...

Brenspeed.com, CNL+SCT2 and tunes for 675 shipped, JLTtruecoldair.com, JLT CAI+Diablo or SCT w/ tunes, 620 shipped. Difference of 55 bucks. Not 100.

Get what you like really.

Any word on which is better:

thanks for all the other input, it has been quite helpful.

OK, for the last time neither is better, its personal preference. For example that's like saying whats better, Microsoft, or Apple, some say mic, some app. Truth is both systems allow you to do the same task, just in a different format, same goes for the tuners. Both have built in tunes that will free up around 10hp, and both have downloadable tunes for an even more power gain, so the choice is yours.
