Default first damage

I got my first "ding" on my sang yesterday. I was just thinking I made it almost 6 months without even a scratch and that's pretty good for me. I had all kinds of accidents in my Genesis and 4 claims in a year and a half before I got rid of it. Anyway, I was on my way home from work and a piece of metal flew off a semi as it went by and hit my front bumper and cracked it. I'm pretty sure it would be covered under comprehensive so I filed a claim yesterday but still haven't heard anything. I just hope my rates don't go up since I've had so many in the past couple years, but this is my first for this car so maybe I'll be alright.

I've been told that if you get hit by something in the air, it does fall under comprehensive. If you hit something laying in the road it's considered a collision. Little did I know this when I hit a tire tread laying in the road. Good luck with the repair.

So what would be the difference in insurance? I'm thinking comprehensive would be better since I don't have a deductible on that.

Check with your insurance provider. Some are very stingy and will raise your rates with any claim (your fault or not). Others will let you slide on one or two claims (regardless of fault) before jacking your rates.

Like I've said I've had about 4 claims in the past couple years. I didn't notice any rate increase until just recently, but it only went up a couple dollars. Most of my claims were comprehensive, except for when I went off the road last winter and had to go collision. That hurt because of the 500 deduct.
